Bringing the best out of you

Join us and you’ll be working in a collaborative atmosphere, alongside highly experienced colleagues. It’s an ideal environment to develop your existing skills and learn new ones.

At the same time, we’re committed to investing in your learning and development to enable you to achieve your full potential. Our career framework helps you to understand the skills you need to progress either vertically or laterally within our organisation.

Whatever your role, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to continuously develop from using our on-line learning solutions, to on-the-job coaching, leading a new initiative, attending a seminar or going on a variety of internal or external training courses from day one. These enable you to enhanceyour specific technical skills through to your leadership or change management capabilities, for example, depending on your role and career aspirations. It’s all designed to help you develop and to realise your ambitions and potential.

Professional qualifications

We are delighted to run a Vocational Qualification programme, which gives anyone in Vectura the chance to gain a professional qualification relating to their work.

To apply, you’ll need to put together a proposal for the relevant course, explaining how it will have a positive impact for you and the company. If successful, we’ll give you all the support you need to gain the qualification, from paying course fees to giving you time off for study.

This is a great opportunity to further your knowledge and can be a real boost for your career, enabling you to move into new roles or areas of the business. In the past, we’ve supported people in a range of qualifications, from Master’s degrees to professional certification.

Broadening your knowledge

As one of our scientists or engineers, you’ll be at the forefront of your field. So when you join us, we’ll give you every opportunity to continuously improve your knowledge of the latest industry thinking and developments.

For example, we’ll encourage you to represent Vectura at relevant conferences and publish papers to reinforce our – and your – standing in the pharmaceuticals industry. We’ll also give you the chance to work closely with our partners around the world, visiting their sites and getting to know more about their methodologies. By understanding their challenges and benefiting from their expertise, you’ll gain exposure to a broad range of thinking, which will ultimately help you in your work.

Agile working

We aim to be as flexible as possible when it comes to fitting work around your personal commitments, depending on your team and the demands of your specific role.

For example, as a scientist, you may have a set of core hours when we’ll expect you to be in the lab and you can choose when you start and finish your day around these.

In other teams, you may find opportunities to work from home, depending on your role. You’ll need to talk to your line manager to work out what suits you and the business best.

An inclusive employer

There’s a culture of openness, based on trust and respect.

We believe that to achieve the most innovative solutions, we need people who contribute different viewpoints and perspectives. So, whatever your background, you’ll find a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere here that respects you for your individuality and encourages you to stretch yourself.

Our collegiate approach, our commitment to open communication and our corporate values and behaviours mean you’ll be working closely with people from a wide range of disciplines, sharing knowledge and inspiring new ideas. In short, you’ll find an environment built on mutual trust and respect, where you can perform and thrive.

Meet our people

Elizabeth Knowles | VP, Investor Relations and Corporate Finance

"I recently returned from maternity leave and the business has really helped with the transition."

I joined Vectura in 2012 as a Finance Accountant and I’ve loved being able to grow and develop with the business.

One of the things that initially attracted me to the role at Vectura was its diversity, it involved Financial Reporting but also had involvement in the operational side of Finance.  Having come from a practice background it was great to get involved in implementing new practices and procedures.

It’s a genuinely collaborative environment. I work with a wide cross-section of the organisation, including the scientists and device engineers. In a different environment this could be challenging as I don’t have a scientific, but the team here really take the time to explain their work to you in a way that is easily understandable.

Sameh Abdrabo | Team Leader, Pharmaceutical Development

"It was a fresh challenge and a chance to develop skills in a new area."

When I joined Vectura in 2015 I hadn’t worked on inhaled therapies before, so it was a fresh challenge and a chance to develop skills in a new area.

The site at Muttenz is a very interesting, multi-cultural environment. It’s not a huge site – around 75 people – so it’s easy to get to know people, because we don’t have the barriers that you find in bigger organisations. This improves the efficiency of our teamwork. It’s a small team, but the variety of cultures and expertise means we have plenty of good ideas and can put them into practice.
